-New program will reduce carbon footprint, while assisting local communities-
La Jolla, California (August 10, 2011) – Willis Allen Real Estate announces its participation in an initiative that will help preserve the environment and its natural resources. The La Jolla-based company, with eight branch offices in San Diego County, is taking part in Commit to Zero, a national reclamation program for the proper collection and processing of cell phones and iWaste (ink and toner cartridges).
“Willis Allen Real Estate is committed to improving the communities in which we live, and that commitment extends beyond selling homes,” says President and CEO of Willis Allen Real Estate Andrew E. Nelson. “Our participation in Commit to Zero allows us to enhance our current recycling efforts, and to offer a way for the entire community to reduce its carbon footprint.”
To make it easy for San Diegans to properly dispose of their cell phones and iWaste, Willis Allen Real Estate is offering collection sites at each of its San Diego County offices (click the following link to see all of Willis Allen’s real estate office locations). The company will package and ship the waste to be inspected, repaired, reclaimed, recycled and reported, according to the Environmental Protection Agency’s requirements. As an added bonus, anyone who participates receives a free reusable canvas tote.
This is only one of the company’s Eco-friendly initiatives. Willis Allen Real Estate has also partnered with Arbor Day Foundation to plant 15 trees at the close of every escrow. Since 2008 that program has resulted in 2,800 trees being planted in California, Oregon and Washington.
